Children's Portfolios

This year I am going to use binders to create "student portfolios" for each child in my class.  They will have access to them any time they want!
I will be putting in their drawings, artwork, dictation and photographs throughout the year.

Does anyone have some tips or suggestions on how to manage this or what to include in the portfolios?

  2. This is such a great idea!! I'm going to have to steal this one!! Usually we will put up on the walls the children's pictures, writing, math concepts we do and art, then all the extra they will put in their cubbies to take home that day. Keeping the extra work in a binder is a good idea and a whole lot neater!

  3. Thanks Tina - I'm really excited about portfolios because the children and their families will be able to access them throughout the day.

  4. I love this idea! It will make the kids so happy! I've seen this done by a few teachers and they have usually included children's work, pictures, cut outs, stickers, or anything that the child desires to have in there! This is a neat idea! I've been thinking about doing it myself with my kids!

  7. That is a good idea and very creative. I love it! When my son graduated from preschool, his teacher made a binder portfolio with all his work and pictures too. It was amazing! My son is now in third grade and until now we go back to the binder and bring back good old memories. It is good that you going to do that for the students. I am also doing a book portfolio for the children and will be given to them at the end of this program year. Thank you for sharing your ideas Ms. Julie

  8. Portfolio's are a great idea and a great way for the children to look back on when they get older. In my classroom we make something like that for the children but we wait until the end of the year to put it together. It's always nice to have pictures and some sample writings from the children.
